Virtual Christmas

 

Christmas Season is one of the most wonderful times of the year. It is one of the most awaited season where families would come home and celebrate with their families. Christmas is all about love, giving, forgiving and the celebration of the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. It holds one of the best memories we made this year, even if you might not receive any money or gift, the best present you could ever receive is the bond of you and your family and friends, as well as the birth of Jesus Christ Himself.

Filipinos are one of the most Christmas-oriented people. In Biguenos many people would decorate their homes with flashy Christmas lights, parols, ornaments and prepare Christmas trees usually in the start of the ber months.

The heritage of vigan would annually launch a new Christmas tree with different themes. The Christmas tree would usually hidden by a big cloth. People would gather in large numbers to joint this annual tradition. The event is one of the highlights of the Raniag Festival. This has been an added attraction for tourist visiting vigan during the Christmas seasons. Sadly, due to the pandemic, the government restricted the public in attending this year’s opening ceremony but instead have them witness it in a Facebook live. Thought this is a good solution to celebrate knowing our situation.

There are many traditions and rich culture in Biguenios, and I am proud to have experienced all of these. Thought we are still in a pandemic so always keep safe.
