Vigan City Festival

Festivals are annual celebrations for religion, culture, and traditions. It is where people come together and rejoice with their loved once, and also a time for everyone to relax and have fun.

The Vigan City Fiesta is held in honour of St. Paul the Apostle, the city's patron saint. Locals and tourists gather to experience and see the street dancing, carnivals, food fairs, and arts and crafts, adding to the attraction of this UNESCO World Heritage City.

I remember when I was a kid, me, my sisters, and papa would roam around looking at the stalls to see what item we want buy and watch the street dancers perform. But my favorite part about the Vigan City Festival is the carnival, we would go try the rides, would see what foods we should try next and appreciate our culture. It’s saddening that we cannot celebrate this year’s Vigan City Festival like we used to especially for the kids, but our safety should always come first.

Follow the health protocols, quarantine, and get vaccinated. These are simple ways that we can do so that we can go back to the way we were. Once the pandemic has ended, we can go out and celebrate again.

  1. Ah yes, I also remember the good times wherein we went to watch parades, street dancing and carnivals. Unfortunately, we cannot do all of those this pandemic because health and safety always comes first, so it's better to celebrate at home. I agree that following the protocols are some ways to help go back to the way they were, I hope the pandemic will end soon so we can celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta out in public again!

  2. It was indeed better celebrating the fiesta before the pandemic happened. But either way, we just have to continue to follow the implemented protocols so that we will soon win and end this battle.
